Engagement Rings for Men
The trend for men's engagement rings first became popular in the late 20th century mainly in the USA. However, fashion trends that start in the US have a tendency to spread worldwide, so it certainly won't be a surprise when increasing numbers of men in the western world wear engagement rings. Engagement rings for men tend to be bought either to match the ring worn by their fiance or to suit their individual style/ lifestyle. The footballer, David Beckham, famously wore a matching diamond-encrusted engagement ring given to him by his then fiance, Victoria (nee Adams) back in 1998. This celebrity couple are famously obsessed with fashion and consumerism and have been credited with launching many high-profile fashion trends for haircuts, outfits, clothing lines, perfumes and jewelry.
Right Hand Rings
In the early 20th century, expensive diamond rings were presented to women to seal their engagements and were regarded not just as fashionable pieces of jewelry, but as clear statements of intent. You've been together almost six years, and things have never been sweeter. She's beautiful inside and out, or has a personality to die for, her looks aside. Or maybe she's a little bit cranky, can't cook well, is mischievous and enjoys pranks and jokes, and detests children. That's the perfect opportunity to pipe up and say, teasingly, "Well, what IS your size?" It's far more subtle that asking her flat out, and you have the perfect opportunity to do so.
2.Look online, when she ISN'T at home. Remember how the previous "Aw! That isn't in my size!" Chances are if she lingered over that ring that she really liked the style. Keep a note of that and swipe another Avon or whatever catalog and go through and see which ones really frustrated her because they weren't her size. If you can take the recurring factors (Is it a simple band? Is it white gold or yellow gold? Eighteen carat or fourteen? Silver, platinum? What gems did she really seem to like? Did she ever say, "That would look ten times better with..."?) and design a special ring just for her, it'll make it ten times as special. Or you might find another engagement ring that fits what she likes.
There are also a few things to avoid, such as:
1.Telling her. That ruins things, even if she doesn't like surprises.
2.Whining over the price. Unless she's asking you to ask her to marry her, it isn't her fault you're spending so much or so little. If you don't think you can handle buying it, then postpone asking her and save the money. She's worth it; she can wait and so can you. You have a lifetime after all.
3.Get upset if she says no. It may just not be a good time. Maybe she wants to advance in her career, or there's something going on family wise. Either way, you need to keep an open mind. Maybe now isn't the right time, but there will be a right time soon. Just keep that engagement ring close.
4.Really buy a bubble gum machine ring. Engagement rings don't HAVE to be expensive, but there are instances when you take it too far. Even if she says yes, the most secure woman may wonder if your reason for such a cheap ring is because that's what you think of the relationship.
